The application process uses normal NIH forms, for which the instructions are available at
instructions for the PHS 398. The page limitations will be enforced. There are several important differences from a normal NIH grant submission. First, DO NOT send the grant to the NIH. The grant must be received by Dr. Dean by email as a single PDF document by midnight, October 1. ONE hard copy with institutional signatures must be sent by October 1, along with the required letters of evaluation that are described in the NIH K08/K23 instructions. Second, the forms are not filled out using the NIH electronic submission process.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Program Director at mike.dean@hsc.utah.edu and should include "PCCSDP Applicant" in the subject header of the email. This subject heading will avoid spam filters and assure a prompt response from Dr. Dean, who will provide further information for the applicant.
The deadline for receipt of applications is October 1, 2010. Applicants must attend the PCCSDP Research Retreat in Deer Valley, Utah, November 4 - 7, 2010, as part of the application process.
Successful applicants should anticipate funding in January, 2011.
