The PCCSDP will have its annual scientific retreat in October or November of each year, lasting 2 1/2 to 3 days. The purpose of this retreat is:

• To allow networking between new applicants, mentors, and committee members
• To provide opportunities for interviewing and selection of new applicants
• To allow information sharing about the program
• To allow new scholars and mentors to present their current research for exchange of ideas and feedback

At the annual retreat, speakers will present on important survival skills in academic medicine, such as manuscript preparation, grant writing, identifying funding sources, oral presentations, dealing with one's mentor, and learning how to provide mentorship to younger trainees.
